About the role

The purpose of the Maritime & Supply Chain Excellence team is to bring people and resources together through an optimised maritime supply chain that is world class, measured by the safest coverage at the lowest cost.
We strive to be a global centre of excellence for maritime supply chain that supports BHP Projects, Assets and Commercial teams with their requirements from vendor to asset and asset to customer.
The purpose of the Supply Chain Sustainability team is to lead the maritime industry in putting health and safety first, being environmentally responsible and supporting our communities.
This role will provide specialist advice and execute the development, implementation and monitoring of effective risk management and provide safety and environment innovation and digitization in to the BHP maritime supply chain. 
The position will be based in Singapore and may require travel to our offices and sites. The working hours are variable and reasonable afterhours work to support the 24/7 operations should be expected.

·   Ensure conformance with BHP Our Charter, BHP Group Level Documents (Our Requirements), BHP Code of Conduct and other relevant internal and statutory obligations.

·   Current with local and international regulations on safety, emerging vessel threats, seafarers’ welfare, carriage of cargo and emissions by engagement with regulatory bodies and industry associations.

·   Undertake monitoring and verification of shipping activities and associated support activities (e.g. vessel physical inspections, helicopter operations) against internal and external compliance and governance requirements.

·   Leverage technology to enable safety improvement and emission reductions.

·   Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain BHP’s leading position in product research.

·   Provide technical response to external study and evaluate outcomes that impact BHP.

·   Coordinates the Incident Management Team and associated system and documentation to ensure readiness for response to any incident related to Maritime operations.

·   Coordinates risk assessments for vessel activities

About You

·   Bulk carrier or tanker maritime qualification preferable e.g. Master Mariner, Chief Officer, Chief Engineer currentor otherwise

·   Experience in, or exposure to the bulk carrier or oil and gas industry

·   Ability to challenge road blocks and find solutions whilst working within BHP and regulatory requirements

·   High computer efficiency

·   Effective planning and communication skills

·   Stakeholder management

·   Introduction of digital innovation in the maritime industry

·   Strong analytical and organisational skills

·   Ability to travel at short notice and as required

·   Works well under pressure

·   Works well independently and also in a team environment
