About the role

Production Chemist – Nickel West - Kwinana

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the role of the Production Chemist is to take the technical lead in our existing fully automated Laboratory and planned future laboratory expansions. Specifically, the tasks required to be conducted by the Production Chemist are:•        Perform analysis and quality control tasks in the analytical chemical laboratory •        Continually optimise our automation laboratory system
  • Oversee the quality control process for all analytic methods
  • Develop and continuously improve analytical methods for our wide range of instruments including
  • ICP OES & MS
  • Metrohm titrators
  • GC
  • Carbon/Sulphur analyser
  • 3D Particle sizing
  • AAS
  • UV-Vis

About You

·        Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or a related science background

·        Leadership of improvement projects and new analytical method development

·        Excellent and positive communication skills and work ethic

·        Strong decision making skills with focus on continuous business improvement

·        Understanding the importance and relevance of Quality Controls and ISO standards

·        Capacity to work effectively as part of a team or autonomously






Nickel West Kwinana

Located 30 kilometres south of the Perth, the Nickel West Kwinana produces nickel briquettes and nickel powder.  While many employees live in Perth, Fremantle and Mandurah, the Kwinana region is a thriving coastal township with three public beaches, excellent schools, modern shopping facilities and a wide variety of housing options.  As part of our commitment to health and safety Nickel West Kwinana is a smoke free operation.We are investing in a Nickel Sulphate plant to be built at our Kwinana refinery south of Perth. We believe there are significant competitive advantages for Nickel West to move downstream into the battery chemical business.
