About the role

As an IROC Mine Control Production Coordinator with BHP, you will oversee the day-to-day operational performance of Pre-strip mining fleet management, providing leadership to empower and drive high performance. You will be work closely with a diverse team of people who work across 9 open cut coal mining operations, across both New South Wales and Queensland operations.

Working on an attractive roster, this opportunity is well suited to someone with a strong understanding of open cut mining operations and fleet management systems.  You would have production coordinator or extensive supervisor experience and be looking to be part of a team actively shaping processes and contributing to exceeding safety, culture and production targets. 

Additional duties will include:
  • Build strong, productive, mutually beneficial relationships with site leadership teams across the 9 open cut coal mines (primarily Production Superintendents and Production Coordinators)
  • Interfacing regularly with all site based Operations, Production Scheduling, and Mine Control teams to maximise safe and productive outcomes
  • Develop & maintain improvement projects for IROC Mine Control in relation to Mining productivity
  • Taking responsibility for identifying and resolving systemic issues, and for assessing the potential impact on production, plant and equipment
  • Actively participating in field leadership, safety meetings and managing key safety investigations relevant to the team
  • Identify and lead standardization of best practice and consistency across the broader Mine Control teams;

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across the team and across stakeholders. 

You will also ideally have:
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
  • Experience in an open cut mining environment and fleet management systems (preferred);
  • Experience in successfully leading large teams;
  • Familiar with Mining Production risks and challenges;
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning and operational improvement;
  • A desire to grow your leadership capability through leading a team in a frontline supervisory capacity;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities and strong decision-making skills to achieve the best outcome for safety, your people and production in the short and long term
