About the role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled trainer to join our proficiency training team at Caval Ridge Mine. This role will suit someone who is looking to expand their training career beyond basic training and assessing, with a key element of the role providing best practice standards in the operating. You will contribute your operational knowledge and skills, as well as a “can-do” attitude to deliver quality training across the mine site.

The primary responsibility of the role is to deliver the Operator Proficiency Training programs, and develop all operators to perform at a standard that results in safe operation, improved health of the machine and improved productivity.

In addition to a passion for training and the ability to adapt to all situations, there will be involvement in continual improvement of our proficiency training operational materials and standards.

  • Delivery of equipment training courses in line with BMA training plan, OEM Standards and our higher proficiency standard;
  • Complete the necessary reporting and documentation associated with the training delivered;
  • Design, upgrade or develop training materials to BMA Standard;
  • Promote safety and proficiency operator training to our operators;
  • Enhance the skills of our people to improve their operating skills and performance;
  • Assist our departments to achieve their operational safety and production targets to be the best in business; and
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the proficiency training materials.

About You

As a successful candidate, you will possess the following:
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessing;
  • Extensive experience in Training and assessing in a mining operation on heavy mobile equipment with supervisory experience being desirable;
  • Excellent equipment knowledge;
  • Good facilitation skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Good computer skill.

Multi skilled with a minimum competencies in:
  • Large Excavator (e.g. 300t or greater) and or Electric Rope Shovel;
  • Grader, Dozer, Loader; and
  • Must have a truck competency 793F,797F OHT.

Highly desirable: 

• OEM knowledge highly desirable;and
• Negotiation skills.
