About the role

Reporting through to the Manager SCM21, this technical Project Engineering role will allow you to drive one of BHP Olympic Dam’s important projects through to completion.  You will provide engineering, logistical and overall integration support for the project management, technical evaluation and engineering deliverables of all areas of the SCM21 project.



Through providing leadership and direction in structuring and controlling the project scope, developing predictable, and achievable plans and schedules, managing changes, measuring progress and reporting/analysing forecasts you will influence on-time delivery of this high-profile project’s objective.


 This position is based in Adelaide as a part-time or full-time arrangement with excellent flexibility offered.  Occasional planned travel is required in this role.



 In this role you will:
  • Manage stakeholders and a functional support team, consisting of experts from technical backgrounds, cost & schedule estimating, contracts & procurement and investment evaluation
  • Engage operational stakeholders to ensure the problem is clearly defined and analysed
  • Maximise project value by identifying options through creative thinking processes
  • Achieve the outcomes defined in the Statement of Requirements (SoR) 
  • Provide feedback on engineering quality to Contract Owners
  • Review Technical Queries (TQ) and provide recommended responses
  • Clarify the design intent during Commissioning and Construction planning and execution
  • Review design deliverables for engineering quality, safety, efficiency, value, BoD alignment and common problems 
  • Provide engineering expertise in developing, investigating and managing responses to NCR’s incidents, claims, etc
  • Support a proactive safety culture (Home Safe Everyday) and achieving HSE KPI’s by leadership of Contractors 

About You

  • Degree qualified in engineering
  • Skills in delivering projects and project management methodology
  • Technical document review, Engineering Management and Safety in Design principal experience
  • Exposure to large multi-disciplinary projects in a mining, processing or heavy industry environment
  • Organisational skills for managing deliverables team and multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen with problem solving skills
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities
  • Communication and influencing skills, including the ability to produce concise reports and presentations to senior managers
