In Queensland's Bowen Basin our asset BHP Billiton Mitsui Coal (BMC) is a joint venture owned by BHP Billiton (80%) and Mitsui and Co (20%) which currently operates the Poitrel & South Walker Creek mines. About the role

The newly formed Site Improvement team will lead improvement activities which are high value and systemic.Your role will undertake all data analysis and reporting requirements for operation, identifying, leading and implementing critical improvement projects, and act as an agent of change and champion of Continuous Improvement on site.

Key tasks and activities should be the essential analysis and reporting activities that were done previously by Specialist A&I roles in production teams, developing Project Plans, executing projects, implementing change management and embedding process, routine and discipline. 

Key focus areas include:

  • Lead the site implementation of key Asset focus projects. Key focus areas which fall into this criteria and are already underway include: Hard Controls in Safety, Load and Haul, Drill and Blast, Shutdowns and Maintenance Labour
  • Lead and support high impact site initiatives. Based on key value drivers and site bottlenecks, initiatives (safety, throughput and cost) will be developed and delivered to support operational plans
  • Lead and support recovery plans at site to meet targets in the event of unplanned events with large safety or productivity impact
  • Consolidate inputs into production plans across all plan horizons
  • Monitor production and performance against the plan and support the overall Compliance To Plan processes
  • Support operations through performance data analysis
  • Investigate and determine causes of impacts to performance, and providing solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Continue to support development of improvement capability across site using the Lean/Six Sigma methodology

About You

The ideal candidate can demonstrate excellent Data Analysis, Visualisation and Interpretation skills (Excel, Spotfire/Power BI), paired with well-developed business acumen and Project Management skills.

Throughout your employment history you have proven record of multidisciplinary team world and are able to engage a wide range of stakeholders in a matrix management environment. Your structured approach to problem solving, using methodologies such as Lean/Six Sigma, as well as your excellent communications skills will make you a well-respected member of our team.
