About the role

The Specialist project control is responsible to is to support Modifications & Operation’s Projects (M&OP) sustainably deliver the Mine, Surface and Integrated Operations (Services) projects below the Asset defined threshold i.e. nominally under US$10M for Olympic Dam. This is achieved through developing and maintaining fully resourced and costed project schedules, ensuring accurate planning, forecasting and management of project and portfolio costs and, providing transparency of the Portfolio progress against the set baselines.

Please note this position is based at Adelaide, on office roster pattern.
Main Responsabilities
  • Develop and maintain fully resourced and costed Primavera P6 Enterprise Portfolio schedules.
  • Prepare, monitor and maintain individual resourced schedules in consultation with M&OP team.
  • Ensure project schedules are in compliance with BHP Billiton standards scheduling guidelines.
  • Support Project Managers in preparation of Basis of Schedule documentation to support developed project schedules.
  • Analyse project activities to determine basic job steps and determine relative sequence in overall plan.
  • Assist to integrate planning requirements to optimise efficiencies and minimise risk.
  • Review schedules prepared by contractors / consultants to ensure consistency with BHP schedules.
  • Integrate operational and capital planning requirements to maximize efficiencies and minimize risk.
  • Organise regular forecast (cost & schedule) update meetings with project teams.
  • Prepare periodic integrated cost & schedule reports including detail commentary on project status.
  • Monitor critical path and project forecasts.
  • Report variances to cost & schedule and recommend corrective actions to Study/Project Manager.
  • Produce system charts and progress graphs as required.
  • Provide advice on potential impacts to project schedule on a regular basis.
  • Provide advice to the team and contractors in relation to planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Develop look-ahead and what-if scenario schedules for project team members.
  • Provide advice to Engineers and Project Managers on the optimum delivery strategy for a project given its particular circumstances.

About You

  • You will ideally possess:
  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management and / Engineering OR
  • 5+ years’ experience in similar technical roles
  • Experience scheduling projects within an operating environment.
  • Experience with a large portfolio of diverse multi-disciplined projects.
  • Experience in heavy industry / mining industry desirable.
  • High proficiency with Primavera software including Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management.
  • Experience with SAP highly desirable.
  • Superior computer skills – using Microsoft Office suite, including expert use of Excel and Project.
  • Drivers Licence
  • Interstate and/or Intrastate travel may be required
