About the role

We are seeking a Rehabilitation Specialist to work within our Health, Safety and Environment - Business Partnering team at our Mt Arthur mine site. The role reports to the site HSE Superintendent - Business Partnership. The roster is 5:2 residential in the family friendly Hunter Valley region known for its wine, food, entertainment and natural landscapes.  Flexible work options will be considered. Within this role, you will use coaching and influencing skills to support site leaders in effective mine site rehabilitation in supporting the business in our trajectory towards closure. Your technical expertise combined with ability to capture and analyse data will inform best practice in mine site rehabilitation and identify opportunities for ongoing improvement. You will work closely with and foster positive relationships with a large number of stakeholders both internal and external to HSE to deliver objectives.

In this role you will:

• Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
• Partner with operational leaders, strategic planning teams and functional improvement partners to support them in effective mine site rehabilitation
• Provision of rehabilitation and closure related technical expertise
• Acquisition and delivery of accurate and transparent data; such as measuring Compliance to Design
• Influence and coach in the scheduled execution of Detailed Design (Resources, Timing, cost drivers) and the development of seed, ameliorant, fertiliser plan & tubestock for new rehabilitation
• Rehabilitation Monitoring & Maintenance.
• Perform Field Leadership and contractor management activities to BHP standards.
• Coordination of internal and external (regulator) audits and inspections, communication of findings, and development of action plans with stakeholders.
• Additional and specific activities identified in our HSE Requirements and associated documentation.

About You

To be successful, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualification or previous experience in an Environment, Engineering or related discipline
• Sound knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to mine site rehabilitation related risks, legal compliance requirements and environmental management systems.
• Ability to effectively engage and influence leaders at middle management level to support them in rehab design, execution and maintenance
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage, coach, mentor and influence with others in both the same team and from other teams to deliver objectives within a large organisation
• Demonstrated experience in executing technical rehab related work activities.
• Good computer-based skills with familiarity in various MS programs, mine planning and data management systems.
• Strong planning, organisational and time management skills with an ability to operate independently
