About the role

Reporting to the Senior Reliability Engineer, the Mechanical Reliability Engineer will be involved in supporting the sites’ maintenance function to achieve maintenance excellence. We are seeking an Engineer with a driving commitment to safe work practices with a proactive approach to improving equipment reliability used for the processing of ore into Copper, Uranium, Silver and Gold.

This is an Olympic Dam based position with 5/2, 4/3 FIFO (ex-Adelaide) or 5/2 residential options available. Alternative rosters may be available.

In this role you will:
  • Engage in daily safety leadership activities and discussions to promote achievement of personal and team safety goals
  • Work alongside Mechanical Trades, Production Operators, Process Engineers and management
  • Conduct maintenance tactics review and optimisation using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Methodology on fixed Plant business critical equipment
  • Facilitate, participate in and manage Failure Mode Effect & Cause Analysis (FMECA) projects
  • Review current maintenance strategies to improve the quality of the work management master data
  • Gain valuable experience working in a highly complex processing plant including mills, flotation circuits, hydrometallurgical circuits, furnaces, an acid plant and refinery’s.
  • Provide engineering advice to support the maintenance function to safely execute repair works and routine inspections
  • Participate in & facilitate root cause analysis investigations on equipment failures
  • Support the implementation of equipment maintenance strategies
  • Analyse reliability & downtime data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Apply problem solving skills to a diverse range of situations and opportunities
  • Develop your knowledge of a vast array of static and rotating equipment used in the conversion of stockpile ore all the way through to finished refined products

About You

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Exposure to and understanding of equipment reliability, asset management and CMMS
  • Root cause analysis and defect elimination experience will be considered advantageous, but not essential
  • Experience in developing new  and optimizing existing maintenance tactics/strategies using FMECA, FMEA and RCM principles
  • Exposure to AWB software will be considered advantageous, but not essential
  • Expertise in rotating equipment trouble shooting
  • General understanding of relevant Australian or international standards for static equipment such as valves, pipes, tanks, pressure vessels and structures
  • Open to new challenges and experiences, combined with proactive and intuitive problem solving skills
  • Highly engaged, collaborative and committed to building mutually beneficial relationships across functional teams
  • Exposure to RCM and FMECA techniques and methods along with 6 Sigma experience
