About the role

The Iteration Manager / Scrum Master supports the team by maintaining process best practices and proactively identifying and removing obstacles to enhance team performance. It is the Iteration Manager’s role to teach the team relevant agile practices, facilitate ceremonies, remove impediments and shield them from external distractions. The Iteration Manager brings the Product Owner and the team together and helps them understand each other. This individual is also a personal coach for team members and an innovator pursuing continuous improvement, with the aim of maximising team performance.

The fun parts of the role include:

  • Provide ongoing facilitation and coaching that enables the team to excel at Agile development
  • Facilitate medium-to-high complexity Agile initiatives from initiation through release
  • Facilitate discussions leading to collective decision-making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the team
  • Proactively identify and remove obstacles to team performance
  • Actively manage risks and external dependencies drawing in team members as appropriate
  • Create and maintain the appropriate channels for open communication within the team (e.g. tracker boards, JIRA) to create a trusting and safe team environment
  • Continuously seek to improve team performance by promoting joint accountability for results and solving productivity issues
  • Collectively with the Product Owner owns creation and prioritisation of the digital product backlog for specific digital solutions
  • Assists Product Owners to shape the digital product road-map and vision
  • Identify trade-offs between short and long term benefits to drive shared vision between the team and product owner

About You

We are looking for supportive leaders with a canny ability to identify risks and extract solutions from team members. 

  • Successfully delivered a project using Scrum methodology in the role as Scrum Master
  • Prior delivery of technical projects in software development 
  • Experience in coaching people on each project you have delivered
  • Knowledge of Agile software development process (e.g. XP, Kanban, Scrum, etc.)
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Agile techniques: User Stories, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Paired Programming, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team 
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills
  • STEM Bachelor degree would be highly beneficial
  • Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP) or Certified Scrum Coach (CSC) a plus
