About the role

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver.

About the role

Our Mechanical and Senior Mechanical Engineers provide engineering support and deep technical expertise to the Olympic Dam Operations across both the mining and processing operations. With a wide group of stakeholders and customers you have the opportunity to work across a broad range of areas and projects.

These roles are based in Olympic Dam. 7/7 or 8/6 Residential or FIFO rosters (ex-Adelaide) are available.

In this role you will:
  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge to support projects, maintenance, operations, third parties and contractors to align with Olympic Dam engineering standards
  • Generate and review designs, technical assessments and reports to communicate requirements
  • Review, update and approve the complete set of technical documentation (engineering standards, equipment standards, specifications, datasheets, procedures, programs and drawings) from which the Operation is designed, constructed, operated and maintained
  • Validates that the content of technical documentation is maintained to reflect the “as built” condition as per authorized modifications and changes.
  • Senior Engineers are  expected to mentor, coach  and work as part of a team to ensure success of the team
  • Ensure maintenance of physical and electronic documentation against defined document management standards
  • Assist with the development and validation that the content of technical documentation is maintained to reflect the “as built” condition as per authorized modifications and changes
  • Support the ongoing asset integrity of the operation through identification and implementation of improvement initiatives

About You

  • Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, eligible for Chartered membership of Engineers Australia
  • Knowledge and proven experience in a variety of areas including Pumps, Tanks, Piping, Valves, Conveyors, Smelters, Pressure equipment, minerals processing equipment, fixed plant and mobile mining equipment, mining operations.
  • Experience with brownfield equipment installations and in-service repair scope development
  • Demonstrated experience in providing technical input to design and project execution, with an overarching drive for safety in design.
  • Proven experience in use of Australian Standards and other international standards such as ASME, API, etc. 
  • Well-developed communication and engagement skills with an interest in providing technical leadership, support, solutions, and governance.
  • Attention to detail and finely tuned problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
