An exciting role is now available at the Kwinana Nickel refinery (NKW).  This largely autonomous role offers the suitable candidate the opportunity to work across the entire site dealing with staff at all levels whilst managing the day to day functional issues of asset integrity maintenance.

The Senior Integrity Engineer is responsible for ensuring ongoing integrity of major plant assets across the refinery, ensuring statutory compliance across the site, ensuring quality and consistency of equipment conditions ensuring best possible outcome for Kwinana.

About You

Naturally the suitable applicant to be a self-starter with an ability to build strong relationships across the site.  With sound experience at an engineering level in structural steel and concrete design, and the static behaviour and importance of structural elements. Detailed knowledge of Structural condition, status and risk assessment of structures using the tools of visual inspection, design verification and measurement methods such as strain gauging.

  • Understanding of corrosion mechanisms and in particular that associated with chemical exposure and dissimilar metals.
  • Basic understanding of concrete remediation methods including the use of cathodic protection and protective coatings.
  • Understanding of steelwork painting requirements and in particular protective coatings.
  • Previous additional experience in working with pressure vessels, piping and relief systems, including the metallurgical and statutory management of this equipment, will be an advantage.
  • You must be practical, able to make decisions quickly, work autonomously and a good problem solver as well as being someone who can drive the sites ambitions to maintain the Integrity of all its equipment at best practice.

Located 30 kilometers south of the Perth, the Nickel West Kwinana produces nickel briquettes and nickel powder.  While many employees live in Perth, Fremantle and Mandurah, the Kwinana region is a thriving coastal township with three public beaches, excellent schools, modern shopping facilities and a wide variety of housing options.  As part of our commitment to health and safety Nickel West Kwinana is a smoke free operation.We are investing in a Nickel Sulphate plant to be built at our Kwinana refinery south of Perth. We believe there are significant competitive advantages for Nickel West to move downstream into the battery chemical business.
