About the role

We have an opportunity in the Technical Services team - Copper Production for a Senior Technical Projects Metallurgist. This role will be instrumental in driving rapid improvement through people, process and systems within our Smelter and Refinery at Olympic Dam, reporting to the Superintendent Technical Services.

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 5/2/4/3 FIFO, or 5/2 residential roster arrangement.

This role is responsible for:
  • The application of continuous improvement fundamentals for use within a manufacturing process;
  • Leading routines that drive operational discipline through robust “plan,do,check and act” processes;
  • Providing technical support to the production metallurgical team; and
  • Establishing critical key relationships with the site Technical and Reliability teams and supporting improvement initiatives within the operation.

In the role you will actively engage with the operations teams and develop solutions that will enable them safely and productively. You will develop strategies and processes to ensure change is sustainable.

About You

  • Safety at the forefront of your mind when you develop solutions and engaging with people.
  • Understanding of Smelting and Refinery operations with supporting operational experience
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives and or projects
  • Well-developed communication skills which can be executed clearly at all levels of the business and the ability to develop trusted relationship with your stakeholders.
