We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Mining Engineer to join our team at Leinster.

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent the purpose of this role is to provide technical support to the Leinster underground operation, lead, supervise and coordinate Mining Engineers and improve processes and practices in the Technical Services team.

With new mines currently being developed and existing ore-bodies mined, you will have the opportunity to be involved in the early stages of several projects, including development of a block cave mining area as well as construction of a ventilation shaft and a paste plant mining for mining open stopes. Daily duties include but are not limited to:
  • Timely delivery of development designs;
  • Preparing stope notes and drill and blast designs along with weekly, monthly and life of mine schedules and budgets;
  • Analysis of mine performance and driving improvements in safety and productivity of the underground mining operation;
  • Reviewing and improving engineering processes and practices across differing mining methods towards best practice; and
  • Managing mining contracts and providing engineering support to the mining operations team to achieve HSEC and production objectives.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent, accompanied by previous experience in a similar role;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of underground mining methods and practices;
  • Western Australian First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency will be an advantage but not a must;
  • Strong focus on operational safety and risk management;
  • Experience influencing from within the team to implement change to processes and practices
  • Able to lead and manage others to consistently deliver outcomes for the team;
  • Mine planning experience and report and presentation skills essential;
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to significantly contribute to an experienced team; and
  • Current C class licence.

Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate.
