About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Production Planning, you will provide specialist advice and execute tasks relating to the development and communication of the short-term plans, production schedule optimisation through scenario modelling, and production forecasting to enable effective operation of the Surface Metallurgical Plant.


Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 5/2 residential, or 5/2/4/3 FIFO roster.

In this role you will:
  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team
  • Lead and govern the production schedule to extract maximum value from the resource incorporating data from the operations functions
  • Analyse performance metrics and benchmarked performance across the operation
  • Focus on the Monthly Operating Plan, Weekly Schedule and End of Month Reconciliation for the Surface operations
  • Assist in development of the planning standards and processes owned by Surface Production Planning
  • Lead and guide Metallurgists in the development of production plans with critical controls factored in and alignment with production operating standards, procedures and work instructions
  • Develop plans that achieve and maintain predictable, stable levels of planning performance
  • Lead the alignment of the production schedule with the Maintenance Work Management schedules
  • Manage the development of the production of the (week +1) schedule and subsequent hand over to Production
  • Endorse, as well as lead execution and monitoring the effectiveness of Production Planning improvement initiatives
  • Develop plans, designs, models, schedules and forecasts in conjunction with internal customers, including all related documentation
  • Build cross-functional relationships with the Operational sub-functions (Production and Maintenance), Integrated Operations and Functions

About You

  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
  • Degree qualified in Metallurgy, Chemical or Process Engineering
  • Comfortable working with data and you will also be highly capable of working with stakeholders, formulating meaningful business cases and influencing decisions
  • Well-developed analytical and critical assessment skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and solid presentation skills
  • Ability to quickly and constructively work within the Olympic Dam operations team
  • Ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines in a consultative manner
  • Computer literacy in MS suite of programs
  • Experience working with a variety of different mineral processing related processes
