About the role

We are currently looking for a Senior Technician Electrical to join our Housing Maintenance team in Newman. Reporting to the Supervisor Housing Maintenance, the Senior Electrical Technician will perform planned and unplanned maintenance duties on BHP’s housing portfolio, provide technical expertise and have the willingness to step up and lead the team on a limited but regular basis. This is a permanent position on an 8/6 roster with FIFO or residential options available. 

Main responsibilities include: 
  • Demonstrate commitment and conformance to the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
  • Undertake planned and breakdown maintenance activities on our housing portfolio
  • Work with Supervision to provide best practice 1SAP work management processes and ensure maintenance is completed to plan
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to housing department
  • Provide regular Supervision coverage as required
  • Champion continuous improvement projects

Location
With this role you have the choice of either being residentially based in Newman or fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on a 8/6 roster. If you would prefer the residential option, you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities.  As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes. 

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
  • Electrical Trade certificate and current valid Western Australia Electrical Worker’s licence - Mandatory
  • Electrical nominee accreditation highly desirable and be willing to be the departments Electrical Nominee
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to safe systems of work
  • Proven leadership skills and previous Supervisory experience highly desirable
  • Experience on testing and fault finding commercial and domestic installations.
  • Experience with 1 SAP and BHP operating systems of safety is highly advantageous
  • Data cabling and communication experience an advantage
  • Minimum of C class manual drivers licence
