About the role

It’s an exciting time at Olympic Dam and opportunities like this do not come along often.

Olympic Dam is one of the world’s largest copper deposits in the world with unique challenges which generates opportunities for improvement to our world class operations. We are currently looking for a Smelter Operations Manager to lead the Olympic Dam Smelter team.

Reporting to the General Manager Surface Execution, key responsibilities include: 
  • Demonstrating your technical experience and leadership skills through coaching and mentoring your team to deliver best practice for peak operational performance.
  • Drives the consistent expectations, understanding and application of production processes to enable compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, Our Requirements (GLDs) and local requirements.
  • Make key decisions and hold influence in regards to the short, medium and long term direction for our Smelting operations at Olympic Dam.
  • Challenges and optimises the portfolio of the Production area improvement initiatives ensuring alignment with planning priorities
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement proficiency to partner with multitude of departments and areas across the organisation.
  • Cultivating an exceptional culture through positive communication and collaboration

About You

You will have experience in a management role with substantial experience working in a Smelting environment. More importantly you bring passion and enthusiasm that will be critical to the success of the Smelter and broader Hot Metals team.

Additionally you will be tertiary qualified in Engineering Chemical/Process/Metallurgy.
