About the role

The Solution Architect owns the architectural decisions for the product team, and is the visionary and primary force behind the technical solution. The Solution Architect values simplicity and is unafraid to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve an Agile design. The Solution Architect works closely with all team members to create a modular, scalable solution that addresses/incorporates future architectural changes and designs. The Solution Architect drives teams’ engineering practices in test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated deployment, and is a hands-on team member who actively coaches the team to solve complex technical problems. 

The fun parts of the role include:

  • Designs the overall technological architecture of the product with the help of the team
  • Guides project teams on technology strategy related to coding practices, continuous integration and automated deployment
  • Responsible for the technical design of the product
  • Mentors and coaches the technical team, specifically with code reviews
  • Be hands on and engage in coding to help the team to develop the solution and solve problems as they surface
  • Identifies and removes technical impediments
  • Works with Product Owner to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack
  • Provides the team a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality
  • Shares responsibility with Product Owner for building reusable and scalable components 

About You

You will be curious and creative as you seek for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, never afraid of challenging the status quo. Your sharp communication skill and ability to align multidiscipline stakeholder groups on complex technical decisions will be key to success.

Ideally you will have some or all of the following;

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field like Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field required.  Advanced degree is a strong plus.
  • Experience in Agile Development and technical backlog management, with specific Solution Architect (or similar) experience preferred 
  • Seasoned developer or technical lead with deep insight into newest technologies and trends
  • Can make architecture decisions at a team and product level
  • Experience working on projects that span multiple business units 
  • Experience with coaching and mentoring technical team members 
  • Expertise in working with the tools and technologies relevant to the product team 
  • Understanding of holistic enterprise architecture and interplay of analytical components with enterprise foundational components (data architecture/governance, security, etc.)
