About the role

You will be part of an energetic team that is focused on developing and delivering the implementation and sustainability strategies of automation systems in the heavy haul industry. 

This is a highly collaborative environment in which the successful candidates will work with multiple teams to create technology and operational readiness, deliver commissioning practices, and identify methods to improve capability of autonomous systems. In addition to that, be part of guilds and strategic groups to develop standards that will allow us to successfully replicate the outcomes of solutions to other assets of the company. Reporting to the Manager Capability and Commissioning, your key accountabilities will include:
Automation - Capability:
  • Completes or coordinates technology readiness activities for projects
  • Completes or coordinates operational readiness activities for E&D automation.
  • Maintains operational benchmarks and insights into productivity and cost improvements.
  • Maintains operational benchmarks for projects and BAU uplift of existing deployments.
  • Defines training outcomes for project trainers to deliver as part of operational readiness
  • Defines best practice operational and automation readiness governance and application into projects.

Automation – Commissioning:
  • Undertakes system upgrades as either BAU or projects (depending on magnitude of work)
  • Defines best practice commissioning governance into projects.
  • Support projects in the development of commissioning strategies/plans and the delivery of commissioning

About You

As the preferred candidate you will have:
  • 5 years experience in relevant engineering or technology roles, ideally within mining, oil and gas, utilities or manufacturing.
  • 3+ years experience in project delivery or consulting roles and possess full lifecycle exposure, including scoping, planning, scheduling, resource management and execution.
  • A tertiary qualification in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or similar discipline is desirable though not essential.
  • A demonstrated track record in applying data and benchmarking analytics to operations is advantageous, as is experience using tools such as Spotfire and Business Objects.


You are highly organised and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise effectively in a high-pressure environment.

You are a strong, effective communicator, with sound interpersonal skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

You are an agile and creative thinker with sound organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
