About the role

We are seeking a highly-motivated Automation Specialist to join our high-performing Broadmeadow team, as a permanent team member.  Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance Longwall based on site, this primary focus of this role is to provide assistance maintaining and developing Longwall automation technologies and practises. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Coaching and mentoring Operational personnel in automation
  • Coaching and mentoring Longwall trades personnel in Automation systems
  • Monitor and support automation utilisation 
  • Monitor system performance and recommend changes to optimise and refine process in line with site change management procedures
  • Recommend automation system improvements to Longwall Automation Coordinator
  • Provide technical support to tradespeople to rectify issues with the Automation equipment in a timely and safe manner
  • Monitor system for any early indicators of convergence and geotechnical events and report to relevant personnel
  • Interact with OEM personnel to identify and execute any improvements in automation system reliability and functionality
  • Ensure data communication system integrity is maintained
  • Analysis of playback data to identify operational or safety issues

About You

  • The ideal candidate will hold a Queensland Electrical trade license with extensive underground coal experience.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of underground operations and automation technology, particularly on Caterpillar Longwalls. 
  • Proficiency in SAP and Excel
