About the role

Cost Engineering is accountable for delivering operating costs and sustaining capital estimates for long-term strategic plans (Life of Asset) and Major Projects at Olympic Dam.

The function provides a time series view of cost based on established views to productivity and benchmarking targets. We also support project optimisation opportunities and deliver analysis, insight and recommendations where required to support the framing of work stream deliverables.

We are looking for a motivated, curious, and entrepreneurial-minded analyst or Engineer. This role reports to the Manager Cost Engineering and is Adelaide-based with occasional travel to site.

To ensure success in this role, you will have a background with strong operational experience and/or a proven track record delivering financial analysis and insight.  Key deliverables cover the full scope of Olympic Dam’s supply chain with experience in either Surface processing and/or underground mining an advantage.

About You

You will bring engagement skills, including the ability to build effective relationships with individuals at all levels of the organisation. You will strive to deliver value through a relentless focus on key value drivers, benchmark performance and any opportunities to close the gap to benchmark. You will be proactive in identifying opportunities and communicating the potential impact to drive change.

Advanced Excel skills and proven ability to deliver quality financial analysis and/or operational knowledge and experience is required.

In this role you will:
  • Deliver operating costs and sustaining capital cash flow estimates for Life of Asset plans and Major Project investments for use in economic evaluation and decision-making
  • Deliver study phase documentation required to accompany each estimate
  • Maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Engineering providers, Project team members, Operations and Finance
  • Engage across the business to develop, document and have endorsed a robust set of key inputs and assumptions, as well as estimate outputs and insights
  • Publish medium-to-long-term operating cost and productivity targets and benchmarks used to inform forward estimates
  • Support the Study Management Team to identify, frame and quantify value optimisation opportunities
  • Proactively support project work streams where best placed to do so with cost modelling and support or analytics

Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering, Metallurgy, Finance, Economics or other related discipline
  • Advanced Excel modelling, with demonstrated track record to use data to generate insights and drive outcomes
  • Deep operational experience in either underground mining and/or surface processing
  • Experience in Major Project study teams or similar is preferable but not mandatory
  • Effective communicator capable of building relationships both internally and externally
  • High achieving, enthusiastic and performance driven team contributor
  • A willingness to take responsibility and lead outcomes; ability to work autonomously but also works effectively within a team
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and deliver continuous improvement outcomes
