About the role

BHP’s new Maintenance Centre of Excellence (MCoE) is the coming together of a dedicated, innovative team focused on identifying, achieving and maintaining the highest standards in maintenance for BHP globally.

These roles will be performed from our Centre of Excellence hub based in our Brisbane office, supported by the latest technology to engage with our sites around the Australia and the globe.

As a Specialist Data Visualisation you will be part of a larger analytics team developing processes and tools for integrating Analytics and Data Science into BHP’s business and operational decision-making. The key purpose of these roles is to convert abstract information into appealing and understandable visualizations that provide valuable business insights.

In this role you will:
  • Bring deep expertise in data visualization tools and techniques in translating business analytics needs into data visualization and semantic data access requirements.
  • Process, clean and verify the integrity of data used for data visualization/dashboards
  • Help drive business stakeholder adoption of insights-driven decision making and/or business process innovation.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications for data visualization solutions
  • Build, update and maintain dashboards and visualizations based on the available data sources
  • Collaborate with a wider Data Analysis and Analytics Team, including Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Simulation Specialists.
  • Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
  • Develop and update Data Analysis Standards and Procedures
  • Interact with stakeholders to draw out the business questions they are trying to answer, as well as ensure our solution meet their needs and solve the right business problem

About You

Your CV should ideally outline your skills and experience in the following areas:
  • Experience in design, development and testing data visualization solutions/dashboards.
  • Advance user of market-leading visualization software such as (but not limited to) Tibco Spotfire and Tableau
  • Strong SQL skills for data wrangling with Oracle/Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience deploying solutions to an enterprise environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server).
  • Knowledge of best practices for Data Analysis and Visualisation.
  • Familiarity with working and creating visualizations with big data sources
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Open to working with new tools and technologies and learning new skills along the way
