About the role

Reporting to the Manager High Voltage and Power, you will have responsibility for the following:
• WAIO East Pilbara Grid Load balancing and forecasting.
• Gas portfolio management for WAIO (Newman and Port Hedland) – mid and short term forecasting.
• Conduct Design reviews on mechanical/electrical projects for BHP’s generation & network facilities.
• Performance monitoring and reporting for Yarnima Power Station.
• Technical evaluation of O&M and LTSA contractor performance.
• Provide  advanced technical support to the Power Group maintenance & operational personnel
• Implement and maintain automated reporting system using PI Historian.
• Provide operational interface and representation for upcoming growth projects.
• Ensure conformance with the BHP Billiton Charter and Code of Conduct.
• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.

About You

You will be a team player with a passion for safety that is second to none and demonstrate these safety values in all that you do.
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
• A tertiary/degree qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
• Substantial experience in HV and Power within mining or similar industry
• Substantial experience across all aspects of the Project lifecycle
• Previous leadership experience is desirable
• Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills
• A proven track record of safety management
• Experience managing contractor performance
Location
You will be based in Newman on a fly-in fly-out 5/2/4/3 roster. You will be based at Yarnima Power Station, and within proximity of our Mount Whaleback Mine, which at more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide is the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities.  As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.
