About BHP

At BHP we support our people to grow, learn, develop their skills and reach their potential. With a global portfolio of operations, we offer a diverse and inclusive environment with extraordinary career opportunities.  Our strategy is to focus on creating a safe work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives, and where the capability of our people is key to our success. Come and be a part of this success.

About the role

Central QLD Office (I & AM Infrastructure and Asset Management) has an opportunity for an experienced Specialist Environmental working a 5/2 roster, offered as a fixed term contract for 9 months.

The primary purpose of the role is the execution of activities that the Environment sub-function is accountable for. This would entail monitoring, management, implementation and review of plans and reporting. The role of the Specialist Environmental supports the deployment of improvement initiatives defined by the Environment Analysis and Improvement sub-function. This is a residential role with camp or BHP housing available in Dysart.

About You

You will have successfully completed a Tertiary Degree in Environment Science, Environmental Management, Ecology, Natural Resource Management or a related field and have working knowledge of regulatory Environment policies and procedures in the mining sector.

Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Environment legislation to an operational environment is one of your strengths and currently employed in a similar role in the delivery of environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance programs.

Energetic and driven, you work well with challenges, bringing attention to detail and an ability to meet multiple deadlines. You relate well with people, communicate confidently, build strong working relationships and feel confident working autonomously.

Supporting a diverse workforce

At BHP, we recognise that we are strengthened by diversity. We are committed to providing a work environment in which everyone is included, treated fairly and with respect. We are an Equal Opportunity employer and we encourage applications from women and Indigenous people. We know there are many aspects of our employees’ lives that are important, and work is only one of these, so we offer benefits to enable your work to fit with your life.  These benefits include flexible working options, a generous paid parental leave policy, other extended leave entitlements and parent rooms.
