About Us
BHP Global Accounting & Reporting (A&R) team consists of over 400 capable and passionate professionals supporting our assets in multiple locations around the world with a common goal to drive high standards for accurate and timely information. Included in this portfolio are the Minerals Australia Coal and Copper assets.

Our Minerals Australia Coal division comprises metallurgical coal assets BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and BHP Billiton Mitsui Coal (BMC) based in central Queensland and our thermal coal asset New South Wales (NSWEC) Energy Coal in the Hunter Valley.

Minerals Australia Copper includes Olympic Dam (OD) which is one of Australia's largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation based in South Australia, and is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. 

About the role
Part of a World Class Finance Function, and led by the Minerals Australia Reporting Manager (Coal & Copper), you will assist the Minerals Australia Reporting team in providing timely, accurate and insightful reporting and analysis to BHP leadership and shareholders for decision-making.You will have the opportunity to grow and develop as part of a global team, in a dynamic and rewarding work environment where:

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a Reporting team that provides exposure to 4 of the major Assets across the BHP Minerals Australia portfolio.

You will work collaboratively with your team and key stakeholders to provide timely and accurate reporting and analysis as well as insightful commentary to enable decision making.  Key accountabilities include:
  • Preparation and analysis of the 5 Year Plan and 2 Year Budget as well as periodic forecasting
  • End of month reporting and analysis
  • Preparing adhoc scenario analysis
  • Input into the Quarterly Operation Reviews and Half Yearly Results Announcement to the external market
  • Driving continuous improvement through standardisation and technology 

About You

The below represents advantageous skills and attributes for the role:
  • Degree qualified in Commerce/Finance or similar discipline is desirable, with CA or CPA certification highly regarded. 
  • Management accounting background is advantageous, with emphasis on month-end analysis and reporting, budgeting and forecasting;
  • Willingness to embrace technology, and an appetite for data analytics to craft a performance story;
  • Technical strengths will be complemented by an adaptable and team-spirited approach;
  • Ability to engage and influence key stakeholders to gain valuable business insight and deliver meaningful commentary;
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, in particular Excel and PowerPoint;  and
  • Experience with SAP/BI/BFS/Spotfire/BOBJ an advantage

You will be based in Brisbane, Queensland, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘480 Queen’.
