About the role

Based in Adelaide, this newly created role provides tactical and strategic technical support for the Planning & Technical team with focus on managing quality geoscience and resource engineering systems to enable successful delivery of activities integral to the geoscience and mining value chain.

Our Planning and Technical team creates and provides critical support to executing safe Olympic Dam plans, and this business critical role will deliver value through collaboration with all stakeholders with a culture of care, technical excellence and innovative spirit.

In this role you will:
  • Manage licensing, packaging and system upgrades in collaboration with the Technology function 
  • Collaborate with  Planning & Technical Data Management teams to develop and maintain geoscience and resource engineering process maps and system documentation framework
  • Ensure effective integration and use of the geoscience and resource engineering systems (including Vulcan, Deswik, Centric, AcQuire) in collaboration with Technology, Planning & Technical and software vendors 
  • Collaborate with Planning & Technical Data Management teams to ensure data is compliant with the BHP Global Data Management Standards
  • Ensure effective system performance at all times to the Planning and Technical function through collaborating with Technology 
  • Develop and administer Business Intelligence (BI) Solutions in Spotfire and PowerBI
  • Collaborate with the Global Technology function on innovation of geoscience and resource engineering solutions now and into the future
  • Ensure compliance with Technology Cybersecurity processes relating to system and data integrity
  • Liaise with Technology to ensure appropriate backup processes are in place and regularly monitored
  • Provide advice to the Planning & Technical function relating to systems issues and best practice solutions

About You

  • Engineering/Geoscience qualification with strong knowledge of Computer Science, OR 
  • Computer Science qualification with Geoscience/Planning/Mine Engineering exposure
  • Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, Acquire (or combination of) will be well regarded
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise IT systems (SQL Server) and relational databases
  • Exposure to one or more mine production data systems (e.g. Centric, Reconcilor) is desirable but not required
  • Exposure to continuous improvement tools (e.g. WAVE, Soapbox) is desirable
  • Innovative thinking and continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Ability to troubleshoot and manage problem resolution with everyone involved in the geoscience and mining value chain
  • Understanding of evolution of technology systems
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders and articulate what's required to technical and non-technical audiences.
