About the role

BMC have an opportunity for a Specialist Governance and Technical Stewardship to join our onsite Engineering team at our Poitrel Mine in Central Queensland. Reporting to the Superintendent Governance & Technical Stewardship you will be responsible for providing specialist engineering expertise to the operation. This will involve the execution of tasks associated with providing engineering technical support and ensuring a robust risk and benefit based assessment process is followed for proposed engineering modifications and projects.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Assisting the team to fulfil its core accountabilities  including governing and maintenance of the Operation's blue print (Engineering standards, specifications drawings, processes, standardised systems and procedures);
  • Exercise judgement based on practice and precedence to evaluate situations not covered by procedures and recommend solutions;
  • Support resources involved in the integrated delivery of projects by the site or central Engineering team, as required by site;
  • Responsible for supporting structural engineering activities at site through structural audits and action planning to ensure appropriate remediation activity; and
  • Engage Technical Specialists and provide technical input to the operations.

  • Identification and delivery of improvement opportunities in terms of safety, culture and productivity;
  • Accept accountability for the performance of the team by ensuring quality of tasks and services;
  • Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication and consultation;
  • Support the execution and governance of projects at the operation and engineering function to identify and report issues and risks; and
  • Play a leadership role in team development in order to ensure a safe, sustainable and disciplined approach to work.

About You

To be considered for this opportunity you will be a qualified Engineer (Mechanical or structural preferred), with a minimum of 2-3 years' experience. Having, or working towards RPEQ is advantageous.

You will have an understanding of engineering principles, standards and processes, along with drawing management and document control databases. With a proven exemplary safety record, you will demonstrate a professional and process based approach to engineering governance and technical support.

Due to the nature of this role you will need to be an engaging, outgoing and a technically competent Engineer with a professional and process driven approach to Engineering.
