About the role

Responsible for service delivery of Reward (remuneration and benefits) activities or other reward programs globally in partnership with the global Reward team.

Core Accountabilities
  • Demonstrates commitment to the BHP Charter and Code of Business Conduct, including an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Understanding of BHP company and HR operating models
  • Works independently as key member of the GAS HR Reward team, and contributes to the global Reward team.
  • Involved in a broad range of global reward projects with across multiple regions and businesses related to compensation and benefits; understands business context and is able to make strategic recommendations based on reward and industry knowledge  
  • Accountable for the execution of administrative and analytical activities as part of the global remuneration and benefits program across BHP, including but not limited to:
    • Lead annual and ad-hoc market analysis (including system administration for both internal and external salary benchmarking activities) activities to prepare and recommend base salary midpoint/salary ranges, and annual salary increase guidelines
    • Oversee various reward reporting and analysis as required (e.g. global gender equity reporting/analysis, Sustainability & Annual report, and other statutory reporting)
    • Ensure that the systems and processes that are put in place support the principles for individual remuneration and benefits, which are determined according to the role grade, the employee’s skills, experience, performance, work location and availability of suitable candidates.
    • Process lead for work streams within Annual Reward Review (ARR) processes 
    • Management of benefits administration, including business as usual renewals, escalated query management, system oversight, communication, daily vendor interactions, etc.
    • Manage internal and external audit requests; act as the internal project manager and liaise directly with key stakeholders to facilitate project 
    • Oversee service delivery and associated administration of regional benefit plans, recognition programs and initiatives as required
  • Provides high quality remuneration and benefits guidance and support to HR Business Partners and Resourcing according to business knowledge, experience, and professional judgement.  
  • Provide specialist support to the GAS HR enquiries and master data processing team to ensure query and case management is within the defined service level agreements and performance targets of GAS
  • Contributes to the design and implementation of local/regional policies, solutions and Global Reward programs of work
  • Contributes to the design of and executes reward governance activities e.g. role grade alignment, position titles framework compliance
  • Provide support to the Manager Reward, Lead Reward and other global Specialist Reward team members as required
  • Supports global reward sub-function initiatives and simplification projects as required. Manage projects as assigned.
  • Actively seeks to create value through seeking out opportunities to simplify, remove duplication and minimise hand-offs to enhance standardisation and efficiency of Reward processes and activities.
  • Interfaces effectively with internal and external stakeholders; positively represents the GAS HR function
  • Maintain good working relationships with peers within the BHP HR community (HR Business Partners, Sub-Function Subject Matter Experts) and liaise with external statutory organisations as required.
  • Identify risks and provide input into mitigations and action planning.  Ensure Risk Management protocols are incorporated into operational activities.
  • Accountable for compliance with relevant Group Level Documents (GLDs), legislation, agreements and standards
  • Interfaces effectively with internal and external stakeholders; positively represents the GAS HR function
  • Maintain good working relationships with peers within the BHP HR community (HR Business Partners, Sub-Function Subject Matter Experts) and liaise with external statutory organisations as required.
  • Identify risks and provide input into mitigations and action planning.  Ensure Risk Management protocols are incorporated into operational activities.

About You

Qualifications
  • Degree, qualification or equivalent experience in Human Resources, or other relevant Business degree, required
  • Reward and Benefits Certification (e.g. World at Work) would be advantageous.
Experience & Technical Competencies
  • 5+ years of relevant remuneration and benefit experience in a Multi-National Company (MNC) environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability in interrogation of data. 
  • Advanced numeracy skills
  • Proven ability to deliver effective communications both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Payroll or international HR experience a significant advantage
  • Experience in SAP and SuccessFactors preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular strong/advanced Excel skills 
  • Project management skills an advantage
Languages: 
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
