About the role

This is a great opportunity for a proactive, dynamic and highly astute professional to join our Health Safety and Environment team supporting the Nickel West assets.
We are seeking a Health Specialist to deliver a wide range of health services and initiatives. This role is residential in Kalgoorlie.  
This is a great opportunity to hone your health advisory skills as you gain exposure to a variety of HSE activities including:
  • Providing expert advice and support in the delivery of the sites fatigue, fitness for work, drug and alcohol, wellbeing and mental health plans and associated procedures;
  • Providing expertise and direction for health promotion activities and site based initiatives;
  • Providing strategic and operational support to Site Medic;
  • Ensuring accurate record keeping of all health and hygiene information and associated data;
  • Providing onsite support for regulatory and BHP hygiene monitoring and health surveillance requirements; and
  • Working collaboratively with the centralised HSE team to deliver on key deliverables and embed business plan initiatives.

About You

  • A health related tertiary qualification is essential.  Preferable degrees are Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, or Hygiene however other health related professions are encouraged to apply, as the role scope can be adapted to suit the preferred candidate;
  • Sound knowledge of WA Mining Health Legislation;
  • Proven ability to influence;
  • Strong communication, organisational and time management skills and ability to work in a high performance team;
  • Genuine desire to help people and achieve solid outcomes;
  • Experience with MedGate (Cority) is beneficial but not essential;
  • Previous exposure to the mining and minerals processing industries is preferable;
  • Experience in a similar role within a large, structured organisation is highly desired; and
  • A willingness to undertake additional training to comply with required testing, including but not limited to WorkCover Audiometric Officer training, Spirometry, Ventilation Officer.
