About the role

Supported by the latest technology, Project Prime is an enterprise-wide budgeting and forecasting (B&F) transformation program that will provide the foundation for a global, highly automated and integrated planning process. Through adopting driver based planning and taking an 80/20 approach for each operational process, we will empower our line leaders to focus on the material metrics that matter in order to drive continuous improvement.

As a Data Visualisation Specialist you will be part of a larger analytics community developing processes and tools for integrating Analytics and Data Science into BHP’s business and operational decision-making. The key purpose of this role is to build internal capability in SAP Analytics Cloud and work with internal teams to convert abstract information into appealing and understandable visualisations that provide valuable business insights. This role is based in Brisbane. The role will require some domestic and international travel in order to engage with stakeholders globally.

In this role you will:
  • Bring deep expertise in data visualisation tools & techniques in translating business analytics needs into data visualisation & semantic data access requirements;
  • Process, clean & verify the integrity of data used for data visualisation/dashboards;
  • Help drive business stakeholder adoption of insights-driven decision making;
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications for data visualisation solutions;
  • Build, update & maintain dashboards & visualisations based on the available data sources;
  • Collaborate with and build the capability of a wider Planning & Analytics Team in data analytics;
  • Develop & update Data Analysis Standards & Procedures; and
  • Interact with stakeholders to draw out the business questions they are trying to answer, as well as ensure our solution meet their needs & solve the right business problem.


About You

Your CV should ideally outline your skills and experience in the following areas:
  • Experience in design, development & testing data visualisation solutions/dashboards;
  • Advance user of market-leading visualisation software such as (but not limited to) SAP Analytics Cloud;
  • Strong SQL skills for data wrangling with Oracle/Microsoft SQL Server;
  • Experience deploying solutions to an enterprise environment;
  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server);
  • Knowledge of best practices for Data Analysis & Visualisation;
  • Familiarity with working & creating visualisations with big data sources;
  • Strong analytical & communication skills; and
  • Open to working with new tools & technologies & learning new skills along the way.
