About the role

We now have an opportunity in Operations Services for a maintenance specialist to provide support across our operations with a focus on maintenance capability development and performance improvement.

The Specialist Instructor Maintenance role supports front-line maintenance leaders and teams to achieve consistently high levels of maintenance performance through the Mastery Program including development of key standards for maintenance, coaching and other support to help bring these standards to reality across multiple operations.

The purpose of this role is to support the building and sustaining of high and consistent levels of maintenance skills and performance at the front line.
  • The work of the Specialist Instructor Maintenance includes:
  • Supporting ongoing development and implementation of the Operations Services Mastery Program, particularly in relation to maintenance.
  • The development and implementation of Maintenance Standards and related resources including upskilling resources and verification tools and practices.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop resources and methods for upskilling front line teams to work consistently to the established Maintenance Standards.
  • Carrying out maintenance performance verifications against Maintenance Standards at the frontline including coaching others in assessment and verification processes.
  • Providing advice, support and coaching to frontline maintenance technicians on the continued application of high quality maintenance tasks execution practices and routines.
  • Continuous monitoring of maintenance crews’ performance and initiating the necessary input or support to ensure Maintenance Standards are achieved and maintained.
  • Encouraging and leading productive collaboration across the Maintenance and Training teams through informal processes as well as formal forums and routines.
  • Working with deployment leaders, particularly Supervisors, to help build the required capability within their teams.

About You

The successful candidate will have or be:
  • A strong track record as a leader in maintenance, at least at the Supervisor level and preferably across multiple mine sites and some or all maintenance settings including mobile equipment, fixed plant and field maintenance.
  • A skilled coach, trainer and adviser with the ability to maximize the effectiveness of training and upskilling activities in the workplace.
  • A good understanding and skills in process improvement work.
  • Good experience and skills in the use of technology in managing work processes, data capture and performance reporting.
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to engage and build relationships across multiple layers of the organization from senior management to frontline leaders and technicians.
  • Very good organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
