About the role

The Specialist Drill and Blast Production Integration is responsible for asset wide coordination of drill and blast activities and resources across all of BMA’s site operations. This role will join the Integrated Planning department and support accountability for explosives management across BMA, you will be a dynamic leader with a strong safety focus, with the confidence to lead our production Drill & Blast teams to influence and shape the business outcomes for Drill and Blast.

In this role you will be:

  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Provide technical expertise to sites in relation to drill and blast design and planning
  • Providing input into annual business plans & procurement strategies for the asset
  • Help the business secure explosives supply through developing business case justifications in collaboration with key stakeholders including senior executive leadership. 
  • Provide input into the Continuous Improvement process for Drill and Blast, including engagement and involvement in regular asset wide forums. 
  • Direct engagement with site and suppliers to perform weekly allocation of explosives across all BMA sites
  • Managing daily variation to the weekly forecast across all sites
  • Providing rolling monthly forecasts of demand placement for explosives
  • Manage any Take or Pay liabilities the business has under current commercial arrangements with explosives contracts
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to drive innovation, continuous improvement, value and savings.

About You

You will be an organised individual, highly adaptable, flexible and enjoys working autonomously. You will have extensive experience in an Operational Drill and Blast, Drill and Blast Planning and Design or Drill and Blast Category Management role in a large complex environment ideally within mining or heavy industry. A relationship-builder who is highly capable of engaging with stakeholders and vendors, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills with excellent stakeholder management.
