About the role

The Specialist Legal – Marketing provides legal advice and support to BHP’s Iron Ore Marketing business, and reports to the Head of Legal – Marketing. The role is based in Singapore and may require international travel from time to time.

You will provide legal advice on a wide range of Iron Ore Marketing issues, including in relation to:

  • the drafting, negotiation, execution and performance of iron ore sales contracts;

  • contractual disputes;

  • trade finance instruments

  • shipping and logistics for iron ore sales;

  • regulatory issues affecting iron ore marketing.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Identify legal risks affecting Iron Ore Marketing, participate in risk assessments and advise on the management of those risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key Business and Legal stakeholders and act as a key point of contact for all legal issues.
  • Participate in and deliver on Legal and Business projects as required.

  • Ensure cost effective and timely delivery of fit for purpose external legal services as required.

About You

You will have a minimum of five (5) years PQE experience in a well-regarded law firm or corporate legal department. Previous resources experience, ideally including advising on the global sale of commodities, drafting and negotiating commodity sale and purchase agreements and other complex commercial agreements, and an understanding of the global legal and regulatory framework applicable to the global sale and trading of commodities.
