About the role

Based in Singapore, the Specialist Marketing Tax supports the overall Tax function by providing efficient, accurate and timely delivery of tax advisory, accounting, compliance, and stewardship processes as part of Transfer Pricing & International Tax (TP&I Tax) team across a range of tax jurisdictions, which includes the following:

  • Assist by considering, coordinating and managing the tax matters and risks of BHP’s Marketing business, including the tax implications arising from the global purchase and sale of commodities
  • Conduct tax research and analysis, prepare tax advice, assist with the implementation of tax advice
  • Be accountable for the accuracy and completeness of tax data and/or analysis provided to tax management or other internal/external stakeholders, ensuring that tax risks and opportunities are identified, quantified and incorporated into advice
  • Ensure that tax accounting, forecasting and reporting activities are performed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner and assist with planning for such activities
  • Use your strong written and verbal communication skills to develop and drive strategic stakeholder relationships within BHP’s Marketing business and functions
  • Identify process improvements and assist with implementation
  • Advise and assist on TP&I matters, and related matters, as required.

This role reports to the Manager TP&I Tax, based in Melbourne.

About You

To be in successful in the role, you will ideally have the following skills and experience:
  • At least 7 years of practical experience with corporate income tax and cross-border tax issues across compliance, provisioning and advice. This should be delivered in a highly complex multinational business or professional services firm.
  • Practical experience with corporate tax issues (including: transfer pricing, the taxation of supply & value chains, permanent establishments, reviewing the tax implications of contracts for the sale and purchase of commodities, cross-border holding structures, the application of double tax agreements) in a commercial setting including dealing with the technical and practical interaction with other tax and commercial issues in multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience in implementing tax processes and projects, including transactions, systems and processes
  • Tertiary level qualification in tax or relevant field
  • Experience in delivering tax advice for a marketing function would be an advantage
  • CA / CPA / Legal practicing certificate would be an advantage
