Come and be a part of this success.

About the role

The Ruby Project Specialist Mechanical Engineer III will be responsible with supporting the Execution Phase of the Ruby Project. In coordination with the local Trinidad & Tobago Production Unit (TTPU), this role will support mechanical package delivery, pre-fabrication construction, and offshore construction and installation of the Greenfield scope packages, but will ultimately also support elements of the Brownfield delivery. The role will report to the Greenfield Delivery Manager and indirectly to the Brownfield Delivery Manager.  The current work scope is logistically complex due to the scope impacting multiple operating platforms, re-routing production, extensive piping modifications, integrity testing/assessment, and potential equipment overhauls. The role will also include package engineering management, responding to technical queries, supporting work package development and implementation, supporting mechanical completion activities, pre-commissioning activities, and ultimately commissioning and pre-startup activities. Ultimately, the position will require travel to both fabrication shops in the USGC as well as Trinidad where the work is being performed to support planning, fabrication, and execution activities.

This role is a grade 10 position.

In this role you will:
  • Provide an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development and adhere to HSEC Policy and Management Standards and BHP Corporate Guide to Business Conduct.
  • Provide direct support to the engineering team and instruct the engineering contractors, vendors, and construction contractors to support the delivery of the Ruby Project Scope
  • Support development of the detailed work packages and work instructions for onshore prefabrication and offshore construction / installation on the CPP and GEP platforms
  • Coordinate interfaces with the existing operations and production unit team in Trinidad & Tobago
  • Provide technical review of any outstanding engineering deliverables and change orders throughout the Execution Phase of the project
  • Support field execution planning, mobilization, and execution including physical work scope, logistics, and ancillary support services (QA/QC, construction supervision, etc.)
  • Support progress tracking, cost control, and change management during execution

About You

  • Prefer at least 7 years professional experience in the upstream, facilities engineering segment of the Petroleum Industry
  • A Bachelor’s degree of science in a mechanical engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated construction experience in oil and gas upstream projects
  • A strong understanding of HSE management systems and demonstrated HSE leadership
  • A strong understanding of ASME and API requirements
  • Experience supporting HAZID/HAZOP reviews
  • Experience leading and participating in constructability reviews

  • Must have strong engagement, collaboration and communication skills
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as demonstrated capability to influence across multiple disciplines and functions, both internal and external to BHP.
  • Strategic thinker
  • Ability to manage and coordinate technical and procedural change
  • Willing to travel 25% - 50%.
