About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Scheduling, as a Specialist Mine Scheduler your role will involve design and scheduling in the short term (0 to 16 week) planning horizon at Caval Ridge Mine.

This role is based at the Caval Ridge Mine with flexible travel arrangements in the Bowen Basin Central Queensland working a 4/3 roster.

You will use your already developed mine planning skills and experience in this dynamic and challenging short-term mine planning role. The role will see you develop effective working relationships within the mine planning team, operational and medium-term planning teams, in order to ensure the efficient execution of your plans and schedules.

You will work with operations to produce and execute mine plans in addition to identifying and implementing mine planning improvement initiatives.

About You

As a successful candidate, you will possess a tertiary education in Mining Engineering or similar with previous experience working at an Open Cut Coal Mining operation.

You will have:
  • Proven years experience in design in at least 3 of the following disciplines: Dragline, Drill and Blast, Coal Mining, Dozer Push, Pre-strip, coal quality, and Scheduling;
  • Dragline experience is strongly desirable; 
  • Proficiency with a range of mine scheduling software packages (such as Spry, Deswik, XACT, XPAC) and design software (such as Deswik, Vulcan, BlastLogic);
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; and
  • Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to implement mine planning improvement initiatives, build and maintain trusted relationships across departments and communicate effectively with disciplines at all levels.
