About the role

Technology is responsible for maintaining the operating integrity of BHP production and non-production IT and OT systems. These systems are tightly integrated with the processes that support the mining, logistics and key Business functions of the business. 

The Specialist Operations – Mobile Fleet Control Systems is an expert in the field of Manned Systems, supports the end-to-end service within the sub function, and assists the business in meeting its objectives by providing a stable, reliable and secure environment.  

This role creates maintenance strategies, plans strategy, plans and schedules within the area of responsibility for all deployed technologies to ensure systems are maintained and equipment/infrastructure is maintained in compliance with, work instructions and defined processes, and work schedules to achieve optimal maintenance outcomes.

The Specialist Operations – Mobile Fleet Control Systems is responsible for: 
  • Safe systems of work, utilising existing work management processes delivering against performance targets, while aligning with business requirements
  • The management and governance of Mobile Fleet Control Systems
  • Provides support and guidance in maintaining Mobile Fleet Control Systems policy, process and procedures
  • Develops/maintains technology standards and processes for Mobile Fleet Control Systems
  • Manages relevant outsourced vendor agreements and services as directed by the OT Operations Manager Mining 
  • Provides input into the financial budget and targets for infrastructure lifecycle refresh and optimize costs
  • Responsible for the execution of safe systems of work, utilizing existing work management processes
  • Responsible for the safe execution of Incidents, as escalated by Operations and maintenance activities that reduce failure rates (MTBF) and downtime of IT/OT equipment across BHP Copper
  • Executes 1SAP Work Management and Service Management operational processes to drive consistent service delivery for the entire scope of accountabilities
  • Manages ongoing technology delivery to service level agreements from projects to application and asset owners

About You

Qualification
  • Trade/Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent IT/OT experience 
  • ITIL Certification preferred but not essential

Experience 
  • Previous experience in managing Mobile Fleet Control Systems within the mobile technology and mining environment
  • Exposure/experience in Safety ideally in the Mining or the Resources Industry
  • Previous experience in operational support of mission critical services in large scale environments, preferably mining/resources  
  • More than 5 years relevant post-qualification experience (i.e. preferably in mining within an IT Operational function)
  • More than 5 years’ experience in Mobile Fleet Control Systems including systems, e.g. CAT MineStar Command, Atlas Copco Surface Manager, Modular, Driver Safety System and Collision Avoidance Systems .
  • Good understanding of safe maintenance processes, and the maturity levels of a maintenance organisation
  • Infrastructure/network management experience in IT and / or process control in a large and remote environment.
  • Familiarity of Service Now (or familiarity with ITSM systems) and SAP
  • Proven track record in delivery of support services.
  • Knowledge, use and configuration of Asset Health Monitoring Tools  
  • Problem solving and understanding of root cause analysis techniques
  • Proven track record in delivery of support services
  • Strong experience with contractor management and performance management
  • Experience in developing and managing to budget.
