About the role

The Specialist Petroleum Technical Engineer is a subject matter expert (SME) across a broad range of industrial IT and OT technologies, who provides elevated technical support to operational and projects teams and is responsible for developing and designing part of the maintenance strategies, improvement strategies, plan and schedules for specific deployed technologies at site (Petroleum Production Unit, Development Projects, Drilling and Exploration).
  • Deliver and execute the development of policies and strategies to ensure all the performance measures of OT services meet the needs of the business;
  • Support the execution of all changes to technology assets and services ensuring that they are appropriately and accurately planned, tested, deployed and recorded 
  • Support the development and maintenance of Technology technical standards and Blueprints for all Petroleum sites
  • Support the development of service designs and implementation of all business services in ESM for all Petroleum and Closed Mine sites.
  • Builds long-term, strategic relationships with non-management stakeholders and technical peers.
  • Accountable for the creation and safe maintenance of the overall network, security, storage and compute at all Petroleum and Closed Mine sites.
  • Accountable for being the SME for all industrial IT and OT systems, including marine navigation aids and industrial communication systems at all Petroleum and Closed Mine Sites.
  • Provide local critical control custodianship for critical communication systems and critical navigation aids at all Petroleum Sites.

About You

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Petroleum Upstream business
  • Experience designing IT and OT systems and solutions for remote, industrial onshore and offshore sites.
  • Understand Petroleum business preferred.
  • Has strong relationships with business user community.
  • Able to identify and manage operational and project risk associated with IT and OT services.
  • Able to evaluate IT and OT solutions and determine feasibility, requirement, scope and impact to operations.
  • Experience in supporting and troubleshooting complex IT and OT systems problems.
  • Can articulate requirements clearly across global technology sub-functions

  • Technology design review
  • Engineering / Project Management
  • STEM Engineering Studies Required 
  • Telecommunication, Automation or Electrical background
  • Exposure to critical controls and risk management
  • Exposure to supporting operational sites in the resource industry
  • IT – Windows administration, networking, hosting, compute, storage, virtualisation, security experience or exposure
  • OT – Industrial Automation, SCADA, DCS, Hazardous Area Equipment, Systems Engineering, 2-Way Radios, UHF, VHF, Microwave, Satellite (VSAT), Site Installation experience or exposure
  • CCNA certified or level of knowledge desirable
  • Maintenance Engineering experience desirable
  • Project Engineering experience desirable
  • Basic to Intermediate level of understanding of RF principles desirable
  • Experience working on offshore platforms/rigs/FPSO highly desirable
