About the role

Are you an engineer with site-based mining operations experience and exposure to cost modelling/business development, or are you a finance professional with practical mining knowledge?
Are you also looking for a city-based role in either Perth or Brisbane?
Then as the Specialist Program Management, you will play a key role in the growth of the Operations Services team. While gaining an understanding of Minerals Australia mine-sites and exposure to the sites’ management teams, you will articulate the Operations Services value-proposition; contributing to Minerals Australia performance across safety and productivity.
The Specialist Program Management will be accountable for;
  • Development of Operations Services business cases for opportunities identified by at BHP operations;
  • Collaboration with key operational and functional teams to successfully complete business case opportunities;
  • Co-ordinating inputs and Five-year planning information with site teams;
  • Validation of business case inputs using Actuals and planning data
  • Adherence to governance & process standards for business case development;
  • Transition successful business cases into operational readiness phase work-programs;
  • Enable successful deployments through productive collaboration with operational readiness team and production team;
  • Support and maintain positive relationships with operations leadership teams and functional support teams.

About You

An exciting opportunity for a person with demonstrated practical mining experience (mine operations and/or mine planning), and previous exposure or a demonstrated interest in cost-modelling, contract estimation or business development; to work on opportunities across BHP’s Minerals Australia mine-sites.
We are seeking high performing professionals with the following:
  • A tertiary qualification in engineering or commercial areas, with a working knowledge of the mining value-chain;
  • A minimum of five-year experience in mining operations or mine technical services;
  • Have a deep understanding of either mine production or mine planning, across multiple commodities and extraction methods;
  • Strong problem solving, with the ability to work through ambiguity and use powers of deduction;
  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment;
  • Understand the ‘big picture’ on where value lies and understand the ways to leverage this value;
  • Able to communicate with Operational and Functional stakeholders, at different levels within the business; while understanding respective requirements and perspectives;
  • Have experience or demonstrated interest in cost-modelling, contract estimation or business development;
  • Have experience identifying and driving improvement in large-scale operations;
  • Have strong organisational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
