About the role

Purpose
  • BHP Technology (Technology) is a global function accountable for the development and delivery of company-wide technology systems and services to BHP businesses and function.
  • For this opportunity as Specialist Project Management you will plan, direct, and coordinate activities to manage projects from initiation to full integration with business as usual, including application of appropriate methodologies and governance.

Core Accountabilities
  • Align projects to the strategic vision of the Delivery team.
  • Develop and own project schedules and project charters.
  • Identify resources needs; develop resources plan with stakeholders and on board approved resources to the project.
  • Lead on site execution ensuring compliance with global BHP safety programs such as Field Leadership Program.
  • Manage vendor relationship by control of performance and deliverables.
  • Lead the execution of BHP processes for project management, ensuring a smooth transition to operation.
  • Identify material risks and ensure adequate controls in place for each project.
  • Manage project budget through forecasting, actual/accrual reporting and variances explanation.
  • Communicate project performance to leadership on delivery and business sponsor side.
  • Manage major issues and escalations relating to project successful resolution, engaging all relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Ensure all documentation is provided for ongoing of internal and external communications (e.g. Project Execution Plan, Cyber Security, Project Schedule, Risk Register).

About You

Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in an Engineering, Construction, Civil Industrial or Management discipline.
   
Experience and Technical Competencies  
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Minerals or Petroleum, working in field supervision with health, safety and environment areas.
  • Exceptional relationship management, consultancy and influence skills to drive improvement without direct authority.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information with the business.
  • Ability to enforce structure and discipline, but remain flexible to situational priorities and provide timely decision-making.
  • Deep expertise and demonstrated success working with Planning & PMO functions for large business units (250+ people).
  • Ability to lead and work effectively in a diverse and globally dispersed virtual team environment, guiding and supporting team members.
  • Intermediate spoken and written English.
