About the role

This is a permanent full time role, based in Adelaide CBD - prime location for shopping, dining and being part of the social cosmopolitan buzz hub this inexpensive beautiful city has now become.


You will develop and maintain fully resourced and costed project schedules for Modifications & Operation’s Projects (M&OP) and ensure that plans and schedules developed by any owner’s team as well as Consultant / Contractor partners or any other third parties align with standards.

Essential to the success of successful delivery will be good schedule and cost forecasting practices to ensure accurate planning, forecasting and management of project and portfolio costs.

You will also be involved in assisting with weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting preparation to provide transparency of the portfolio progress against the set baselines. 

In this role you will:
  • Develop and maintain fully resourced and costed Primavera P6 Enterprise Portfolio schedules.
  • Prepare, monitor and maintain individual resourced schedules in consultation with M&OP team.
  • Ensure project schedules are in compliance with BHP standards scheduling guidelines.
  • Support Project Managers in preparation of Basis of Schedule documentation to support developed project schedules.
  • Analyse project activities to determine basic job steps and determine relative sequence in overall plan.
  • Assist to integrate planning requirements to optimise efficiencies and minimise risk.
  • Review plans and schedules prepared by contractors / consultants to ensure consistency with BHP schedules.
  • Integrate operational and capital planning requirements to maximize efficiencies and minimize risk.
  • Organise regular forecast (cost &schedule) update meetings with project teams.
  • Prepare periodic integrated cost & schedule reports including detail commentary on project status.
  • Monitor critical path and project forecasts.
  • Report variances to cost & schedule and recommend corrective actions to Project Manager.
  • Produce system charts and progress graphs as required.
  • Provide advice on potential impacts to project schedule on a regular basis.
  • Provide advice to the team and contractors in relation to planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Develop look-ahead and what-if scenario schedules for project team members.
  • Provide advice to Engineers and Project Managers on the optimum delivery strategy for a project given its particular circumstances.
  • Review contractor plans and schedules to ensure adequacy and reasonableness and compares these plans against the approved project schedule.
  • Integrate contractor plans and/or schedules into the overall project program and/or schedule.
  • Identify schedule trends and advises possible corrective actions.
  • Reports on earned value and actual cost against baselines for individual projects and the portfolio.
  • Ensure project costs are accurately recorded in 1SAP and correspond to the data in P6.
  • Apply Earned Value techniques as appropriate to forecast cost trends across individual projects and overall project portfolio.
  • Compile cost trends and provides advice regarding corrective action.

About You

  • Relevant scheduling qualifications highly desirable
  • Project Management and / Engineering qualifications desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a scheduling role
  • Experience with a large portfolio of diverse multi-disciplined projects
  • Experience in heavy industry / mining industry desirable
  • Experience scheduling projects within an operating environment
  • High proficiency with Primavera software including Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management
  • Experience with SAP highly desirable
  • Superior computer skills – using Microsoft Office suite, including expert use of Excel and Project
  • Understanding of planning and scheduling processes and methodologies
