About the role


Provides deep expertise in South America remuneration and benefits market to allow BHP to evaluate the cost and value of the programs and implement programs which are market competitive and which attract and retain employees.

Core Accountabilities:
  • Deployment of the local remuneration frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Develop deep rewards and benefits capability in the regional reward team, HR Business Partners and leaders, via coaching and partnering.
  • Act as a strategic partner and provide deep functional expertise to create value for the businesses. 
  • Deployment and project management for the local annual review process, benefits review and renewal.
  • Develop benefits and rewards solutions to address local operational priorities.
  • Execute market data and bench-marking.
  • Execute job grading process, consulting and coaching.
  • Own relationships and contract management with external reward & benefit vendors to ensure high quality service delivery and prompt resolution of issues.
  • Design, govern and evaluate benefit programs for pensions, health benefits, life insurances and other employee benefits in constant coordination with Employee Relations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to HR Operations and leaders on remuneration and benefit programs and policies.  
  • Execute vendor strategy and appointments.  
  • Govern contract performance, pricing negotiations and vendor platform interface.
  • Define and govern risk and audit processes as they relate to South America remuneration and benefits.
  • Identify and design opportunities to further simplify and harmonize global reward frameworks and processes.
  • Provide strategic reward guidance into HR Project Advisory team on Benefit program design, vendor appointments, Reward compliance and regulatory registrations etc.  Manage appointment of new vendors in country/location.
  • Provide strategic reward guidance into HR Project Advisory team on benefit considerations for employee transfers due to acquisitions and divestment.  
  • Understand total reward market insights and trends to generate market competitiveness aligned with Reward Philosophy.
  • Design reward strategy on union labor negotiations. 

About You

  • A tertiary degree in Human Resources or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience and Technical Competencies:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience. 
  • Experience with the management and understanding of remuneration frameworks, benefit management and processes 
  • Strong project and change management skills.
  • Excels at diagnosis, partnering and influencing outcomes.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in SAP is desirable.
  • Demonstrated oral and written English language proficiency.
