About the role

The Training team within the Olympic Dam Integrated Operations team who are at the forefront of defining, influencing and delivering an enhanced safety experience and embed our safety “culture of care”.

The strategy will be supported by effective training design and delivery of Safety Training to BHP employees and contractors to uplift the capability improve safety culture and ensure everyone who works at Olympic Dam has the information and context required to complete their roles effectively and in a safe and sustainable manner.

This role is on an 8/6 roster and can be either residentially based at Roxby Downs or FIFO from Adelaide. 

In this role you will be responsible for: 
  • Focussing on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching from within your team;
  • Delivering safety and risk training courses across site and Adelaide;
  • Planning, preparing and executing for all BHP internal safety training for staff and contracting partners;
  • Facilitating the delivery of all site wide training, including shutdowns;
  • Assessing competency and capability of attendees within training courses and on the job training;
  • Reviewing and implementing feedback on training provided;
  • Developing and ensuring continuous improvement to training content and packages aligned with changes to standards and procedures;
  • Completing administration and record keeping on attendance and assessments for training, including training compliance reporting; and
  • Contributing to the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives. 

About You

You are committed to developing a culture driven by safety, quality and continuous improvement, and have good knowledge of training, standards and safety legislation in Australia and specifically for South Australia. You will hold a training assessment qualification and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessing would be well regarded.  

By nature, you are at ease in working with diverse groups of people to confidently facilitate training and prior experience in developing safety training content and packages would be advantageous.  You will be an organised, outcome focused and an energetic person who is passionate about delivering training with strong communication skills and the ability to build great relationships.  A broad understanding of mining or processing industry would be desirable.
