About the role

About the Role:
This position will be accountable to ensure that the Jansen emergency management plan is in place and    will lead any crisis and emergency management responses on the Jansen site. In addition, this role will also support and coach line management to improve safety outcomes at site. The main duties of the role include, but are not limited to:• Maintain an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.• Ensure compliance with the BHP Charter, the internal policies, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.• Lead the crisis and emergency management plan tactical response and related activities on the Jansen site.• Coordinate emergency response training requirements including hazmat response, mine rescue and fire fighting.• Advise and coach line management to enable the implementation of leading health and safety practices throughout the operation.• Assist line areas to identify, report, investigate and mitigate incidents and hazards within established systems.• Provide assurance to line management that health and safety risks are identified, assessed and controlled. • Assist with the delivery of safety-related services (eg HSE-related training and onboarding; security and site access)• Foster communication and consultation with internal and external stakeholders on health and safety matters.

About You

About You

Must Have:
The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. This role requires experience in emergency response and crisis management and the ability to coach and influence stakeholders.  

Nice to Have:
In addition to the above, it would be beneficial, but not required, for you to also have health & safety experience in industrial, oil & gas, or mining. Mine rescue experience would also be considered an asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as experience working with computers would also be beneficial for the position.  

This role will be based at our Jansen Site and will be on an 8 days on 6 days off rotation.
