About the role

The Scheduling Specialist is instrumental in ensuring effective management of the supply chain process related to APAC Petroleum commercial activities out of Singapore which include Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), condensate, crude oil and diesel. The role will also support commercial decision making and effective optimisation of BHP’s liftings and commercial arrangements by providing accurate forecasting and tactical analysis and working effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain an understanding of Petroleum APAC commercial arrangements including sales, purchase and offtake agreements and their value implications across the team’s oil, LPG, LNG and diesel commodities.

  • Build strong customer and counterparty relationships at appropriate levels ensuring all contractual commitments relating to sales and offtake agreements are being met and operational issues/disputes are effectively resolved

  • Become the representative of BHP’s Petroleum Assets to JV Partners, Lifting Coordinators and Operators

  • Understand, monitor and adhere to vessel, terminal and pipeline nomination and lifting protocols

  • Optimize delivery and shipping schedules and perform future scenario planning by working with external and internal stakeholders to make commercial decisions which drive contract value maximization and cost minimization

  • Review and challenge Independent Offtake Coordinators and asset plans / schedules and influence for optimal outcomes

·       Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively to deliver integrated solutions in crisis management situations

  • Work with Principal Sales, Credit Risk, and external counterparties to ensure appropriate credit limits and credit support are in place for potential and existing sales arrangements.

  • Work with Finance Teams to ensure compliance to audit requirements and provide support to month-end accounting processes

  • Own and manage the relationship with Process & Operations (Commercial Operations and GAS) to ensure smooth and timely implementation of all commercial arrangements

  • Drive improvement of existing contract execution processes, procedures, tools, models and platforms, working with Process & Operations (Commercial Operations and GAS) as necessary.

  • Ensure disciplined work execution in line with internal and external governance, compliance and regulatory requirements

  • Further streamline the existing scheduling/commercial operations toolset and automate processes where possible.

  • Support Head of Energy and Principal Sales in the development and implementation of Petroleum APAC’s commercial strategy

  • Conduct business in accordance with BHP Billiton's Charter and Code of Conduct and demonstrates Charter Values in Action

  • Focus on safety and performance aligned to GLDs, BLDs, governance and regulatory requirements

About You

  • Demonstrate experience working in oil & gas scheduling & commercial operations and have knowledge of marketing, technical and commercial issues associated with the industry
  • Highly analytical with strong decision making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, influencing and interpersonal skills, essential to building constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience working with commercial contracts and proven ability to identify and execute operational terms
  • Sound data modelling and forecasting skills
  • Tertiary qualification in a discipline with a strong quantitative methods component (logistics, supply chain, mathematics, engineering, computing, finance or marketing)
  • Be computer literate, SAP experience recommended
