About the role

The Specialist Site Improvement, reporting to the Superintendent Site Improvement, will be acting as a Change Agent within the operation, with the primary purpose of the role being to coordinate and facilitate the identification, formulation, planning and execution of initiatives that will improve the overall culture and effectiveness of the Hay Point. This includes all aspects of the operation and maintenance of Hay Point Coal Terminal.

In this role you will:
  • Work with a team of specialists to deliver improvement initiatives to support Hay Point delivering its commitments in Safety, Culture, Performance and Costs; 
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to identify opportunities to improve the value that we deliver through our processes;
  • Initiate and facilitate idea generation within the operations and maintenance departments;
  • Coach initiative leads and team members to accelerate high value deliverables and communicate results;
  • Support the Superintendent Site Improvement and teams at Hay Point Coal Terminal to embed Continuous Improvement routines and management of their initiative portfolios; and 
  • Support the Site improvement project portfolio regeneration.

About You

You will have experience in change management and/or organisational improvement roles in a large organisation. Prior experience working with both technical and operational groups and degree qualified in a relevant business or engineering discipline will see you succeed in this role.

As the successful candidate you will need strong time management and interpersonal skills, as you will act as key support for site leaders. Keen interest in learning to apply the BMA Continuous Improvement process to improve Safety and Culture, increase Volume and decrease Costs.

As well as:
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving ability in identifying and validating value adding projects;
  • Understand and apply Six Sigma & Lean principles;
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and implementing change. This may be exhibited as leading through influence rather than leading through line authority;
  • Strong business process knowledge (SAP, Management of Change etc.);
  • Exceptional engagement, collaboration and coaching skills.
