About the role

We are seeking a Specialist Spatial Data to join the team of GIS professionals in the Land Access and Approvals function.

Land Access and Approvals East is part of Minerals Australia Planning and Technical function, servicing BHP’s assets in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia. These assets include BHP Mitsubishi Alliance, BHP Coal, New South Wales Energy Coal and Olympic Dam with 11 operational sites and centralised city-based support in Brisbane and Adelaide. Land Access and Approvals East is dedicated to securing access for mining including external approvals, mining tenement & land.

This role is in the Spatial Data team within Land Access and Approvals East, which supports the securing of access across the Land Access and Approval East team. The Spatial Data team also works collaboratively across other functional teams including Resource Engineering, Geosciences, Environment A&I and Health Safety and Environment Business Partners. The role would suit an individual with a customer focus that can work dynamically in a high-paced, high-volume environment and in turn, be part of a team that embraces flexibility, diversity of experience and a respectful culture of care. This is a Brisbane based position on a Monday to Friday roster. In this role, you will:
  • work with team members and alone to capture, edit, manipulate and manage geospatial data;
  • be required to create high quality map products;
  • be required to create and manage Web GIS information products;
  • support the Land Access & Approvals user community with geospatial concepts and innovations;

About You

You will have tertiary qualifications in GIS, Geoscience, Land Management or similar & be a team player with proven experience (3 years +) in ArcGIS Desktop/ArcGIS Pro. You will also possess:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in GIS data capture, editing, manipulation and management;
  • A keen interest in and an aptitude for GIS and information management;
  • An appreciation of the BHP Charter Values and the culture that they engender;
  • Capable of working and delivering on tasks alone;
  • An appreciation of and a drive for success in excellent service delivery;
  • Enterprise Geodatabase experience preferred;Web GIS (ArcGIS Platform) experience preferred;
  • A Cartographic style or at least an appreciation of cartographic design principles preferred.
