About the role


We seek highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic Inventory team as a Specialist Strategic Inventory Management. This role will engage with Category Mgmt. and planning resources to strategically manage inventory. 

Core Accountabilities
  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations. 
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development. 
  • Work collaboratively with Category Mgmt. and Planning/Forecasting colleagues to define, deliver and monitor a sustainable inventory strategy
  • Lead the definition through to execution of Inventory Strategies (Vendor Owned/Managed Inventory (VOI/VMI) and/or Consignment Programs) across all major Material Categories and Capital Projects;
  • Using material forecast data, collaborate with Procurement to determine the lowest total cost decision (buy all, some, none) without sacrificing security of supply; 
  • Ensure the right configuration of materials managed by VOI/VMI/Consignment
  • Support the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) to optimise Supply Chain costs including lead-time optimisation and adherence along with optimisation of the vendors Inventory; 
  • Execute the settlement for Consignment based in the frequency agreed with the vendor
  • Participate and support activities such that Logistics meets the Business Plan and meets Department and Global KPIs. 
  • Assist the Projects, Inventory, and Procurement teams in resolving complex issues, sourcing requirements, and inventory needs.
  • Assist the CAPEX teams and leaders in resolving any supply chain associated activities or issues to ensure optimal business performance.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree and / or similar qualification in a commercial, business and/or technical discipline

Experience & Technical Competencies
  • Pragmatic commercial outlook and exemplary judgement (balances business value vs. risk) to deliver best outcome for BHP 
  • Demonstrated experience with Inventory Analytics & Strategy
  • Demonstrated experience with CAPEX or Special Expenditure Projects
  • Demonstrated experience with VMI/VOI or Consignment Programs
  • Demonstrated experience with Forecasting & Cost Modelling
  • Demonstrated experience with supply chain expediting 
  • Demonstrated experience with Inventory reporting 
  • Collaborative mind-set and advanced interpersonal skills.
