About the role

You will be part of a global team that has a unique remit of unparalleled diversity and breath. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work closely with not just one area of the business, but to work across the 7 sub-functions that comprise External Affairs. This includes Legal, Corporate Affairs, Risk, Ethics & Compliance, Internal Audit, Group HSE and Group Governance.

Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Planning for External Affairs, the Specialist Strategy & Planning will provide the analytical, process and systems capability to support the design and embedment of function-wide strategy and related programs of work for External Affairs.

The External Affairs Strategy & Planning team undertakes long-term strategy and planning activities to drive world class performance and realise the integration benefits of External Affairs.
Key accountabilities include:
  • Support the design and embedment of an integrated External Affairs strategy.
  • Support delivery of key activities in the corporate alignment planning (CAP) process including the External Affairs Appraisal, five year plan and two year budget.
  • Identify best practice and innovation trends for External Affairs globally, ensuring alignment with the integrated functional strategy.
  • Undertake benchmarking and performance analysis to identify opportunities to improve the culture, effectiveness and efficiency of External Affairs.
  • Support the design and delivery of function-wide programs and initiatives that improve the culture, effectiveness and efficiency of External Affairs.
  • Undertake function-wide performance reporting to articulate and quantify the value proposition of External Affairs and progress against plan.
  • Support the governance of functional systems and processes.
  • Engage key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes in strategic planning processes.
  • Support the function-wide embedment of continuous improvement methodology.

About You

You will be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and an ability to work with ambiguity and complex issues. Strong commercial acumen and data analytics capability will also be viewed favourably. You are most likely a business professional working in a global organisation, a large matrix structure or a management consulting firm.   

Your ability to synthesise complex information, provide quality analysis, and support the design and execution of strategy and planning activities will see you being successful in this role.   

Working knowledge of planning, project management and change management disciplines and demonstrated success operating in multidisciplinary global teams will be highly advantageous.
