About the role

As the Drill & Blast Trainer/Assessor reporting to the Supervisor Training you will:
  • Liaise with the Mining Supervisors and Training Supervisor on operator training required.
  • Review performance of equipment/personnel and implement training in line with business drivers.
  • Ensure technical training of the Drill & Blast department is implemented as planned.
  • Maintaining a training matrix for personnel.
  • Ensure training materials are developed and updated in line with WAIO standards.
  • Ensure adequately skilled operators are available across all shifts to ensure safe and effective production.
  • Participate and support the Operator Driven Reliability (ODR) initiatives.

About You

An experienced Trainer Assessor with previous experience as an appointed shot firer you will assist in the implementation of training plans and resource material for training of operators used within the Drill & Blast Department ensuring a high level of operator competency. Your previous experience operating machinery in Drill & Blast open pit mining operations will provide you with a foundation of knowledge to support your success in this role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills will be essential to ensure you to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders on training requirements. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessing is preferred for this position or at minimum the ability to progress towards this qualification. 

Required: HR class WA driver’s licence

Location 

You will be based at our new ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 4/3 roster. Jimblebar is the first Greenfield mine in over 40 years to be both developed and operated by BHP Billiton Iron Ore and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia.  The outstanding facilities at the brand new FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 3G wireless internet and Skype, an ensuite bathroom, flat screen television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
